Game Cam is a video game recording application for Windows. The application creates its own video recording device under Windows, which allows it to record what is going on in the screen. Game Cam is used via hotkeys. The default hotkey is the Home key. When you are in a game and press that key, a new window will come up and will show you a preview of the video that is being recorded. If you press the key again, video recording will be stopped. Other hotkeys allow you to show the application's interface during the game to change the settings. I found that having the recording preview on the screen at all times was rather annoying. I am not sure how to hide it or if it can be hidden. The videos are recorded using the Divx codec, which proves quite adequate for this type of video. Your recorded videos are saved to the computer and can be accessed via the Video manager. The quality of the videos is rather great and the preview window does not appear in the final video. Also, you can't switch on the recorder unless you are in a game. Game Cam does a great job of detecting when you are playing. Apart from recording video, Game Cam can also take snapshots of your game. Those are high-quality as well. The application seems very responsive and it always responded to the hotkeys. Using Game Cam is perhaps the easiest way of recording gameplay for highlight reels and that kind of videos. It is super easy to use as well.
